Winter Botany in the Methow

February 24, 2011
with Dana Visalli, Methow Naturalist and Botanist.
5:30-7:30pm at the North Cascades Basecamp in Mazama.

This presentation is part of our Thursday Night Presentation and Soup Night Winter Series.  We tend to ignore plants in winter because we don’t recognize them.  But most of the perennials and shrubs sticking up out of the snow can be identified, and each plant species has it’s own tricks for winter suvival.  On this evening we will look at plant survival strategies, practice our winter plant identification skills, and then go out for a short ski/snowshoe to gather our leafless winter plants, which we will then identify over hot chocolate back at the lodge.

Seasonal vegetarian soup dinner begins at 5:30pm- $5.00 per person
Presentation begins at 6:00pm
