Winter 2011- Nora and Max
Bernie and Stacey- Summer 2011

Stacey and Bernie are avid Naturalists who live and feel at home in nature and in any environment. They first came to the Methow Valley because of their love for the wilderness. The Pasayten and the North Cascades spoke to them loud and clear as they were engulfed by its beauty when they walked the entire length of the Pacific Crest Trail and the Pacific Northwest Trail, which borders this diversified region. They enjoy photography, arts and crafts, gardening..... and living life simply. When they climb and touch the sky upon these wondrous local mountain peaks, they say they can take this vast open feeling home within.
Katherine Ellsworth - Summer 2011

Katherine is currently studying Sustainable Development at the University of St Andrews with a focus on community resilience, human well-being, and behaviour change. Alongside these interests, she has dabbled in conservation biology and as an avid backpacker, she looks forward to spending some of this summer in the great outdoors of Washington. Her passion for hiking is how she came to be at the North Cascade Basecamp. For the past 7 summers, she and her two brothers and father backpacked different sections of the Pacific Crest Trail in Washington and Oregon. Last summer they backpacked from Rainy Pass to Canada and had the pleasure of staying one evening at the North Cascades Basecamp. She looks forward to the prospects of spending more time in the beautiful Methow Valley!
